Above pictures are of jobs that we have completed. We have provided pictures of the main types of storm doors for your convenience. Most commonly you will either choose a:
Self Storing - where the glass stays in the door year round and operates up and down, similarly to a single/double hung window. There are now 3 types of self storing storm doors:
First - The standard old style with a bottom glass panel that moves up for ventilation and stores in the bottom position for the winter season.
Second - The rare Triple Track style that has both an upper and a lower moving glass panel for ventilation. This is a great option for homes with pets and small children because when the glass is down the inside animals can't damage the screen. The draw back is animals on the outside can damage the screen so the bottom panel is rarely raised.
Third - The new style is replacing the other 2 styles because of its benefits over the others. It's called a Screen Away self storing storm door. It has a top glass panel that slides down and as it does the screen comes out of the top of the door attached to the glass. The retractable screen then rolls back up out of harms way when the glass is raised and locked. The screen lasts much longer because it's not exposed to the weather and it's not likely to be pushed out by users or pets because of its high location on the door.
Full View - A Glass or screen panel runs the full length of the door. This allows you to showcase your entry door while still offering you protection from the elements. Normally, in the summer the entire glass unit is removed for ventilation and a screen is put in its place.
Security - Offers you protection against unwanted intruders. These types of doors can come as a self storing door or with removable glass inserts and screens to change out for the warmer weather. Some Security doors have the appearance of security and will only deter a thief passing by but will not stop one from aggressively attempting to get in, chose wisely. Note: When the screens are in and the glass is out or down the screens are not meant to be secure. On the door models that aren't completely closed to the hands ability to reach through the bars and unlock the door you may not wish to leave the door unattended.
French doors - They are available in all of the above options for standard sizes, your choices are limited for custom sizes.
